How Can You Tailor Your Workout Routine to Your Body After 40?

Hello beautiful friends! We hope you all had an amazing weekend. Silvia and her family made an unforgettable trip to Arizona to celebrate her oldest son's 10th birthday and Veronique stayed local. Now everyone is back to work, producing super fun and insightful content for all of you! Talking about insightful content, on this Monday’s episode you are going to learn the PROPER way of exercising according to your age with guest Jana Barret. To listen to the full episode, click here: https://www.highvibesandamic.blog/episodes

Jana Barret is a certified Tacfit Instructor and a Fitness and Movement Coach based in New Zealand. She learned how to surf after she turned 40 and she is now in love with the sport. For Jana, surfing is “a very humbling experience”. She considers the ocean “very feminine” so being immersed in it on a regular basis is extremely powerful and energizing for her. Even so, learning a new sport is never easy, especially a sport like Surfing. She was told it would take it at least 10 years to master the sport. Well, it’s been now 6 years and she’s ROCKING it. Talk about having determination and believing in yourself! Jana is a great example of how us women can live a healthy and fit life with minimum injury even after we hit middle age if we listen to our bodies, exercise according to our menstrual cycles (regardless of being in Menopause or not) and believe in ourselves.

During our conversation, Jana mentioned that she is shocked by the number of women who still don’t understand or ignore the signals their bodies are trying to send them. They usually either exercise too much or too little and the consequences of that can be chronic pain, injuries, weight gain and/or hormonal imbalance.

The fitness Instructor believes that once we connect with our bodies in a deeper level and understand its unique needs, we will be able to benefit tremendously from the exercises we choose to do. For instance, if we are in the beginning of our cycles, we should avoid strenuous activities whereas if we are in mid cycle, we should go for more intense workouts, like strength training or kickboxing. The main idea is to avoid training like men do. We have different bodies and hormones so we shouldn’t be doing the same type of exercises they do neither should we work out as intensely and as frequently as they do.

Well ladies, we hope you enjoyed today’s post and most importantly, follow Jana’s advice! If you’d like to get in touch with her and learn more about what she offers, all her information is going to be found in the episode’s show notes. And if you liked this episode PLEASE SHARE with your friends and leave a review on Apple Podcast or Spotify. We truly appreciate your support! Until next time!

Veronique and Silvia
