In the world of spirituality and New Age thought, there's a wide spread idea that can be very controversial and create a lot of discussion among people who are seeking for deep meanings and answers. It's the notion that "we are God". On episode 48 we talk about this concept while reviewing Wayne Dyer's book "Wishes Fulfilled".

According to Wayne Dyer, we are part of God, therefore "we are God". That means we are divine and have the power to manifest anything we desire and to heal ourselves and others. For Veronique and I (both of us are Catholics), this sounds unrealistic and arrogant. It can also promote self-centeredness, which is the opposite of what the Bible teaches. For us, there's only one God, and He is the creator of all things, He is the one with almighty powers! What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree?
We also talked A LOT about John of God, who was a very famous Brazilian spiritual healer and is now in jail after being convicted of fraud and rape of over 600 women. A lot of people, including Oprah Winfrey and Wayne Dyer, fell for his "tricks" and even promoted his supposed "healing powers" all around the world. Wayne Dyer spent good part of this book recounting his experience with John of God and how miraculous he thought he was.
We have mixed feelings about this book. It started off well but it went down hill after the "we are God" concept was introduced. The John of God story plus the recounting of his past life regression also helped the book become a bit tedious and not very convincing, in our opinion.
